Lars Mikkelsen-3-1024x657Lars Dittmann Mikkelsen, born 6 May 1964, is a Danish actor. He has acted as Troels Hartmann (Copenhagen mayoral election candidate) in The Killing and [1] Charles Augustus Magnussen (third series of Sherlock) as well as the Russian president Viktor Petrov on Netflix's American House of Cards, and Grand Admiral Thrawn from Star Wars Rebels. In 2011, he received the Reumert Prize of Honour At 27 years old, he enrolled at the National Theatre School of Denmark and graduated in 1995. Alongside his appearance in the drama series aired internationally as The Killing, the actor was also featured in two more internationally popular Danish drama series, Those Who Kill and Borgen III. He also had a leading part in an episode of the BBC drama Sherlock as the blackmailer, Charles Augustus Magnussen.In the American TV show House of Cards, he played the role of President Russia. He received an International Emmy Award in 2018 to honor his performance in Danish television drama Herrens Veje. The show was aired in the UK in 2019 as Ride Upon the Storm.
